Keeping weapon systems ready in the field is the Ordnance Corps’ maintenance and support role. Ordnance units provide maintenance, repair, and logistical support to sustain the readiness of weapons, ammunition, and ordnance equipment when deployed. They perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and fix faults on-site, and supply the spare parts and tools needed to keep systems operating under field conditions. Medical support comes from the Medical Corps, drafting field manuals is a broader doctrine task not specific to field maintenance, and saying there’s no role would overlook their essential function in sustaining readiness.
